TAMILNADU FEDERATION OF VOLUNTARY AGENCIES

History of TAFVA

Tamil Nadu Federation of Voluntary Agencies established in the year 2004 by V.R.Rajan, Secretary General, TAFVA and other associate NGOs. Our federation is initiated by the consistent efforts of professionally managed voluntary agencies of Tamil Nadu. It operates from Chennai and works in all the districts of Tamil Nadu and supports the guest states also. TAFVAs first initiatives was to create a federation for the genuinely registered NGOs who work for social cause in Tamil Nadu and bring them together for voluntary Action.

2004 onwards

Right from its inception in 2004, TAFVA has been actively engaged in strengthening development modules, confidence building, resource sharing, knowledge management, policy advocacy, efficacy building, and other means of support to all its members.

TAFVA identified the lack of awareness and knowledge about emerging issues among voluntary agencies and worked on specific issues to fulfill the needs of NGOs, raising voices for NGOs to work peacefully for the welfare of poor people.

Our Impact

At present, TAFVA has reached over 1,300 NGOs in Tamil Nadu and other states, working together for the welfare of people.

TAFVA is indirectly supported by the active participation of more than 1 Lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs), comprising a total membership of 15 Lakhs individuals.

Collectively, our efforts have impacted over 1 Crore people (both men and women) across Tamil Nadu.
